Write your protest to local newspapers, Melaka governemt, Unesco, etc.

Your small action can make thing different, don't talk and no action.

This is my letter to persons in the contact list., you can use or modify it.

Contact list:
The Star - editor AT thestar.com.my
Melaka State Tourism Department - asmaliana AT melaka.gov.my
Tourism Ministry - <a href="https://www.facebook.com/DrYenYen?ref=ts" rel="nofollow">Ng Yen Yen's Facebook</a>
Unesco Asia Pacific - f.jing AT unesco.org
ICOMOS (Agency to audit Melaka) secretariat AT icomos.org

Sub: Hard Rock Cafe is not a right cultural product in the Melaka Heritage Zone

Seems Melaka authorities is not learning any lesson from Starbucks pullout from the Forbidden City in China for its odd image and mismatching with its surroundings.

I see no benefit to enrich Melaka cultural heritage with a Hard Rock Cafe in Jonker Street, a world heritage core zone except to say this is just another money making business regardless its bad consequences to Melaka world heritage status. Local and foreign visitors flocking to Melaka to see big guitar is just another unproven assumption, more data need to be collected before any party comes down to this conclusion.

The best alternative is Hard Rock Cafe should be built outside the heritage zone to minimize its impact on Melaka charms as a historic city.

Was UNESCO World Heritage Center consulted and informed before a green light is given to this alien cultural product? What is next western products to be introduced to Melaka heritage city? Playboy Cafe with sexy bunny girls I guess!
